Xbox 360 Controller

The other day, Thursday to be exact, I was wandering home from the office to the DLR when I noticed that GAME was actually open. This is a bizarre occurrence as it was about half past six and they’ve usually been closed even when I go home around half past five.

I decided to make the most of this freaky topsy-turvy-ness of time and get an Xbox 360 Controller for my laptop. I’d been entertaining the idea for a couple weeks now as a couple of my more frequently played games also support game pads and I wondered how they’d be with one.

So anyway, I’ve got my Xbox 360 controller and I’ve been very pleased with it. Crysis is absolutely brilliant with it, though I’ve not been able to master driving anything with it. I usually drop back to Keyboard and Mouse for that kind of thing, I don’t know what I find difficult with it but it just seems odd. I also sometimes go back to the mouse when I need to be a little more precise, such as when sniping members of the KPA through the reflex sight of my silenced SCAR or FY71. Moving around is also completely different to a keyboard/mouse as you can turn and sidestep more fluidly and spinning is also more fluid, but thats down to the dual joysticks really which WADS just can’t quite mirror.

I’ve also tried Tomb Raider Anniversary for a few minutes around Croft Manor but I don’t think I’ll stick with that, certainly not with the default gamepad mapping at any rate.

Anyway, happy Easter everyone, I’m going to go to bed now.
