Interesting Rails UI Scaffolding plugin
FreeBSD: devel/ruby-gems 1.0.1 →
Recently, well as of either 1.0.1_2 or 1.0.1_3 the gem command is broken for many situations such as installing gems or listing the outdated gems. Fortunately you can pkg_add a 0.9.4 version from the FTP servers but if you want 1.0.1 you can use the information in the linked PR to fix it yourself until its actually fixed by the maintainer.
MacWorld 2008
Well, the Jobs Keynote of the 2008 MacWorld has been and gone, a few things have been announced. Various iPhone odds and sods, not terribly interesting unless you’ve got an iPhone.
iTunes is to be getting movie rentals, I could get excited about that but I imagine it’ll go roughly the same way as iTunes TV series with a paltry joke of a selection available to anyone not in the US....
RE: Whuups...
Just classic how that happened. Tom’s recently got an Intel MacBook now that his 4 or 5 year old iBooks graphics chip fried.
Whuups....
Tom Holland: these Intel Macs are definitely less reliably then the PPC ones

I can haz lolbugz
Been a fan of Robby Russel’s lolbugz for quite some time, they’re amusing and they get the point across very well. Robby’s lolbugz are all done with [skitch] which I’ve been awaiting an invite for patiently, I didn’t want to waste someone else’s invites in case I didn’t use it much, but I finally got one from the plasq team.
So now…. not that...

Honey Honey
Thanks to Tom for gifting me Honey Honey by Feist this morning. Ironically I’d been considering getting it as 1) Garret Murray posted a video with it in this morning and 2) the entire album has been recommended to me by my sister
N95 Earpiece
My N95 earpiece is fixed now :D
On New Years I’d had some problems calling people which I’d attributed to the appalling quality of the UK cell networks, especially under high load. It seems it was not wholly to blame as calling people subsequently had also been very very difficult with it either being crackly or too quiet to hear. Finally on Friday or Saturday it just went...

Hiding folders in Mac OS X
Andrew Garner asked me this morning if I knew of a way to hide folders on Mac OS X. I responded with the typical solution of prefixing the name of the folder with a period.
This however was not exactly what he was looking for. What he wanted was to hide the /opt folder on his Macintosh HD, the place where MacPorts installs all its stuff. I hadn’t a clue how this was done, but was sure it...
